I'm offered a trading assistant position with a mutual fund in with 2 billion AUM with a 50k usd salary. It's middle office position supporting portfolio managers.
Is this the same as junior trader position? Is this a dead end job? I'm very interested in the buy side and wondering if this role has any potential to lead to a portfolio Manager role.
Will hedge/mutual funds view a junior investment banking experience more favorably than a trading assistant position? (considering that I have a investment naming opportunity coming up as well)
